Plunder Squad by Richard Stark

4.0

One of the more fun Parker books I've read so far. There's a more sprawling plot than usual and lots of characters with their own drama going on. And I always appreciate when I read one of these and have no idea if Parker is going to end up getting away with the money.

One of the most fun parts about slowly going through this series is seeing Stark get better and better as a writer. His lean, blunt style that existed since the first book is still here in number 15, but you can tell he's more sophisticated and interested in details that he maybe wasn't in the early years. All while delivering a nasty little pulp novel I can only imagine got read a lot on public transit back in the 70's.

I've yet to not enjoy one of these, and I'm a bit sad that there's only one left before Stark took his 20+ year long break from the series.
