The Family Experiment by John Marrs
3.5
Thank you to NetGalley for this advanced copy. One more Marrs book with multi POV in a slightly dystopian future, about families who want to play a game in hopes of starting their own families. A reality TV show where couple have a virtual child that they wear VR headsets and haptic suits to engage with, and people vote and critique them to eventually award one couple a chance to have enough money to pursue pregnancy or adoption if they choose. The world is different, but oh so much the same… it’s a clever premise, but it lost me as I navigated between couples. It wrapped up with a perfect bow which I don’t think this book needed, but overall it was an enjoyable read.
