I picked up a bundle of old Drizzt novels and decided that it would be good to revisit these stories.

This is Salvatore’s first published novel, and it shows. This is not as well written or as polished as his later work. It still gets four stars from me because it does exactly what I want it to do: light fantasy story about good standing up to evil. Young men learning how to be a true leader. Evil getting it’s comeuppance. Cool action scenes. It’s all here.

Oddly enough while I know this out Icewind Dale on the map, so to speak, I feel like I know almost nothing about most of the Ten Towns. I’m curious to see e development through the rest of the trilogy.
