Trial by Silence by Perumal Murugan

4.0

Read this after one part woman. The author had written two different ways on how the story flows after one part woman. This book is one of it. It is not necessary to read one part woman to understand this book.

Here, spoiler alert: the main character, Kali, was not successful in his suicide. The author weaves carefully along the lines of depression, social stigmas and how a wife is viewed as an object for her husband. Sort of like an ownership. It does not matter how many women the husband had slept with, but when the wife does the same in the name of ritual or to get a child; she is a sinner.

Overall it’s nice a read.
