“The ones that wear bedsheets over their heads are much less terrifying than the ones left by the sins of our ancestors.” I had SO MUCH FUN reading this book. It had so much to say about colonialism, desire and women’s mental health. I absolutely adored Noemi, probably one of my favorite protagonists in a while. I could see where she was going with the… mushroom stuff? But it felt just a little convoluted to me, there were so many times that I was like okay what is happening. I also felt like I needed a family tree in there somewhere, but when you’re always marrying your relatives it’s hard to keep track of that stuff I guess.
Graphic: Body horror, Blood, Cannibalism, and Colonisation
