The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
5.0
I have never read a book quite like this one. For one thing, this book is about World War II, but is not a story about a Jew trying to survive the Holocaust. (I am not in any way trying to say the Holocaust wasn't important, but it's a popular plot.) Instead it's a young German girl being raised by German foster parents. Another quirk, the narrator is Death. I genuinely fell in love with all the characters, especially Hans, and for the first time in my life, I cried at the ending. If you're tired of reading books that all seem to blend together and want something different, read this book.
