The Death of Mrs. Westaway by Ruth Ware
5.0
(4.7? lmao)
Ahhhhhh. Yes.
Ware is just so good at creepy. Not scary, not frightening, but creepy. THE DEATH OF MRS. WESTAWAY has an underlying creepiness throughout the whole novel and it worked perfectly. From Hal's dingy attic apartment to the pier in the winter to the big, somewhat gothic sounding house to the housekeeper... everything is perfectly, deliciously, creepy.
My only "annoyance" is that I wish the ending was a bit longer but maybe that's just because I'm greedy.
This is my favourite of Ware's novel thus far. Although I only rated her other books 3 stars, I really enjoyed them too - I'm a tough critic, I guess - and I very much recommend her books if you're looking for a good mystery/thriller.
