The Star-Touched Queen by Roshani Chokshi – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
When I finished this book, I gave it a four-star rating, but over the next few days, I kept thinking about it and it became better and better the more I thought about it. It is definitely a book that will stay with you, so I upped my rating to the full five-stars that it deserves!
Now, I can understand why some people may not like this book. The way it is written is different from other YA books. I felt like it doesn’t give you a solid, clear picture all the time, and is written in a way that makes you fill in a lot with your own imagination.
That being said, the writing for me was magical. It is such a creative and interesting tale told in a lush, captivating way.
I did wish that it had more positive relationships between the female characters, but other than that, I loved the romance, the story, and Kamala!
It also made my heart burst with happiness to read a fantasy book that has characters with names like Maya and Amar, that talks about her sari and his kurta without over-explaining them, and that has the characters calling each other jaan!
