The Dutch House by Ann Patchett, a great book by a great author. Every sentence moves the plot or the characters forwards. Nothing is wasted, and like in Run and Commonwealth, Patchett gives us a complex, multi-layered family drama that just entranced me from start to finish. I loved the characters, especially Maeve, I thought they were all so well developed. My only negative was that the ending felt slightly rushed.... or maybe that was just me wanting more! And also surprisingly this gorgeous edition had a lot of typos & errors. Maybe I could be Ann’s next proof reader :-)
