Ace: What Asexuality Reveals about Desire, Society, and the Meaning of Sex by Angela Chen

hopeful informative medium-paced

4.5

An excellent book that should be required reading for anyone who cares about queer liberation. I learned so much from this short book about our society's culture of compulsory sexuality, different levels of consent, various forms of attraction, etc. The title is quite accurate. More than explaining what asexuality is, this book really focuses more on what its reality teaches us about many of our longheld beliefs about sex that have gone unchallenged for far too long. My only complaint about this book is that for how much it emphasizes the difference between sexual attraction and sexual desire, it conflates the two in the more abstract discussions quite often.
