this was really interesting! i've never read a book set in this background before, which is a shame because i loved this book's setting! the writing was pretty, but it sometimes felt too pretty to me? like, in some of the scenes where the author was describing shahrzad, it was just too much for me. i felt like the author was romanticizing and making shahrzad seem much greater and fiercer and better than she actually is, but oh well.

besides that, i liked this book and will definitely read the sequel, though maybe not in a while.
