Boyfriend Material by Alexis Hall
5.0
4.5
I can’t tell you what it is but Alexis Hall’s books hit me so hard. First Glitterland, now this - I’m not ok but in the best way.
Somehow, Boyfriend Material was the first book in a long while that gave me so many butterflies. I don’t know when it happened, not straight away though, but suddenly I realized how roped in I was and how deeply I felt for Luc.
His anxiety and insecurity are crippling in a way that I couldn’t help but feel in myself and be anxious and insecure with him and on his behalf.
The characters are beautifully constructed and I’m glad it was only one POV. Seeing Oliver through Luc’s eyes ensured that we, too, have the anxious glasses on and sometimes I found myself questioning if what they show even aligns with Oliver’s reality.
To see each of them break down, giving them such depth, was beautiful and heart wrenching at the same time.
I adore Alexis’ writing and have a feeling their books will stick
