The Summer Prince by Alaya Dawn Johnson
5.0
Sometimes I believe that I've grown out of YA lit; that some of the popular novels out there all sound the same. But then something like The Summer Prince finds its way in my Kindle, and I am proved wrong. This story made me curl my toes in happiness, made me groan in frustration and annoyance, but most of all, it made me feel weary and aware of the good things and the bad things in storytelling and fiction.
My favourite parts: Gil and June's friendship. Gil. Bebel and June's friendship. The technophile-isolationist war/revolution scene with Uede-sama.
My least favourite parts: the travel time to Salvadore. June's angsty moments. Whenever the principal appears.
