As a recovering cradle Catholic, this book - whose afterword and notes contain a multitude of citations of scholarly works - blew my mind.  Its bibliography will become my to-read list.  Chester Brown's masterful comics are effective, and often humorous, depictions of selected Bible stories, and his commentary is incredibly thoughtful and thorough.  This book made me question so much about the foundation of my religious identity.
