I never knew a fisherman building things for a woman would be so attractive… among other things, but Tessa Bailey has made me fall in love with Brendan Taggart. Not to mention, I adored Piper and her glamorous yet humble personality.
This was my first Tessa Bailey book ever, and I gotta say I really enjoyed this book! I loved Tessa Bailey’s writing and this book was fun to read, as well as the sprinkle of spice added into the story. I imagined reading this book during the summer, but honestly you can read it year round because this book was enjoyable, and a good time for me.
Once again, this book looked like an “innocent, cute book”, especially with the cover, but… OH MY GOD THE ROMANCE AND SPICE IN THIS BOOK WAS AMAZING! I love a story that has the sweet and romantic gestures that I’ve seen in romantic comedy movies, but also has the passion oozing from the pages. For instance, some people wouldn’t expect much of spice just by looking at the cover, but Piper and Brendan were a force together, each speaking their desires with honesty, and it created a fiery energy between them that was captivating. While they initially had a bumpy start when they first met, I loved seeing how Brendan got so attached to Piper, and by that I mean how he started to genuinely care for her, and wanted to spoil her in the sense that it gave him a sense of gratification to want to spoil her. I saw it as endearing that Brendan felt that way towards Piper, not to mention he couldn’t stop thinking about her, which Piper also couldn’t get enough of the ruggedly handsome captain.
While this book had amazing romance and spice, I loved seeing Piper’s journey from caring about her appearance as being a well known party girl, to learning about her father, the town he grew up in, and finding her own self independence while living in Westport. Piper started to see life from a new perspective, one in which she realized that being present in the moment was more important that figuring out what to post on social media. In a way, it also made me reflect that social media isn’t everything, being able to enjoy the moments of our everyday life is much more precious than worrying about what others think of you, and that was one the many things that Piper learned for herself.
This book made me laugh, swoon, a couple of times I lost my ability to breathe because Piper and Brendan *wink, wink. Considering this was my first Tessa Bailey book, I’m very happy to have read this story, and I’ll be sure to check out more books from this lovely author. Overall a great book and can’t wait to read Fox and Hannah’s story later on.
