I never liked the subject of history in school, but Steve Berry's series of Cotton Malone books have kindled a curiosity about U.S. history in me. Of course, the history Berry writes about is never found in history text books, but it should find its way there as maybe more people would find history interesting.

Not everything in Berry's historical fiction is fact, but he always devotes a section at the end of each of his books explaining what is fact & what is fiction. Surprisingly, most of his books are based on historical fact. And we now know that a lot of what is taught as U.S. history is highly fictionalized. Ironic, isn't it?
