We keep this book in the teen section at my library but it could be enjoyed by all ages. The gorgeous illustrations and the sometimes haunting short stories enhance each other and make this such a unique read. I'll definitely be checking out more of Shaun Tan's work. My favorite story was "alert but not alarmed" about everyone having a ballistic missile in their backyard and how they painted them bright colors and turned them into things like dog kennels and pizza ovens. The accompanying image for this story is bright and cheery and takes away all the missiles' evil. Love that!
