I think all the things I disliked about this book were intentional but that doesn’t mean they were good choices. I felt like the ‘villain’ of the story was lost through the middle and for a while it was just a very boring detailed story about the various slightly unnerving settings. Ambiguity about the bad guy isn’t a bad thing in a thriller but also there needs to be some sort of evil in order for suspense to build and actually mean something. I think this book could’ve been half or even a quarter of the length and still been pretty effective.
