Just when I think there is no way Lily Mayne could possibly make it 6 for 6 with books in a series being 5 star reads for me, she goes and proves me dead ass wrong!
Book 6 of the Monstrous series follows Lilac (human) & Seraph (monster), we have met both characters in previous books. Lilac is the quiet, indifferent raider from the camp & Seraph is the feral beastie that was being kept in Mary's menagerie of beasts and was brought to the camp by Rig & Gloam so they could try to help him. This book takes place along the same timeline as Charlie & Moths' book, so we get to see what was going on at the camp during their absence.
My God, this book! I adored it! Every time I finish a book in this series, I feel like it's the best one, and then I read the next and feel exactly the same! Seraph and all he has gone through broke my heart, and watching Lilac and how their relationship developed was sweet agony. Honestly, my chest ached in the best way throughout this entire book. I loved both Lilac & Seraph as characters they are both layered and multifaceted, Lilac is a protector at his core and isn't afraid to do bad things to ensure the people he cares for are safe, he is so patient and caring towards Seraph and the way Seraph is with Lilac 🥹😫 I swear I just can't with these two. I want to protect them against everything!
I loved the cameos we had from previous couples in this book and the dynamics we got when they were all together for an extended period of time, Wyn & Eden amuse the crap out of me but how all the previous beasties are with Sereph gave such amazing found family vibes. I could gush about this book for ages, but I don't want to spoil anything. If you are into Dystopian/Sci-fi/Fantasy/Monster MM romance just read this series! And if audiobooks are your thing I HIGHLY recommend doing these in that format as Michael Lesley gives such a fantastic and distinct performance for each of the different characters. 🌶🌶🌶
