The Titan's Curse by Rick Riordan

5.0

”Your fatal flaw is personal loyalty, Percy. You do not know when it is time to cut your losses. To save a friend, you would sacrifice the world.” ~ Athena

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Titan's Curse delves deeper into the complexities of Percy Jackson's world, offering intriguing character dynamics and a compelling plotline. Percy's unwavering determination to rescue Annabeth showcases his loyalty and love, adding depth to his character and their friendship. Annabeth's misinterpretation of her stepmother's actions highlights her internal struggles of guilt.

Grover's pure-hearted desire to embark on the quest and Thalia's conflicted behavior add emotional depth to the story. While not particularly fond of Zoë, I empathize with her perspective, though I disagree with the Hunters' anti-man stance, especially in their treatment of Percy.

The atmospheric setting remains immersive, and Riordan's writing continues to captivate. The plot unfolds seamlessly, introducing intriguing new characters like Nico and Bianca while exploring the dynamics between Percy and Thalia. Though Nico's emotions about Bianca needs to later be addressed, the overall enjoyment of the story remains high. Also, one intriguing aspect is the irony of Hades being the only brother to uphold the oath, given that he was coerced into it.

Reflecting on the narrative, I appreciate the nuanced portrayal of familial relationships and the moral complexities explored throughout. As the plot thickens and new challenges arise, the book leaves me eager to delve deeper into this universe again.
