Fear by Michael Grant

ashigdsdgoih warholkAE WTER These books are insane. I don't even know what words I can use that will show how disturbed I was in parts, and how intense it was. Ok. Breathe now.
It has been four months since the children broke into two camps. Caine took on the title of king at Perdido Beach, and Sam is the mayor of the lake colony. There is peace between the two major powers- for now. Albert rules the money, and so controls the trade, the job market, and essentially everyone else. Astrid is off in the forest trying to deal with what happened with Little Pete, and also learning to be self-reliant. Diana is at Sam's group, hoping that maybe she can stop being a terrible person, but getting a little concerned because her baby is growing at abnormal rates. And Drake is deep down in the mineshaft with the gaiphage, getting more twisted with every moment. But things are changing. The dome that surrounds their small section of the world is changing. Darkness is coming.
One by one, the kids start to realize that the colour of the bubble that surrounds them is turning black- turning opaque. So what happens when the whole things turns black? What happens to their barely constructed peace when darkness reigns and the fear seeps in. Sam can create Sammy Suns, little orbs of light, but those aren't enough, not really, to control the fear and perform all of the necessary functions.
Then there's Penny, the girl driven psychotic by her pain and anger. Her power is unrivalled. She can plant visions in your mind, visions that feel more real than anything you could ever imagine. And with a sick mind like Penny's, her visions can have disasterous consequences. I felt sick after what happened with Cigar, who recieved a day with Penny as a punishment for his crimes.
In this book, we also see what is going on outside of the dome. We finally get a glimpse of the parents who desperately want their children back, the military that is trying to understand and control the dome, and the people who poofed out, like Mary.
But oh my goodness, that ending was chilling. With everyone standing there watching and Sam doing what needed to be done. i can't wait for the next book and the aftermath and oh my goodness this series is crazy
