The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
4.0
The more I think about this book the more I like it. Both Death as the narrator and a German perspective of WWII are clever and make the story a very interesting read. Although there is a story, the main focus of this book is on character development, which I found refreshing. I really enjoyed The Book Theif. However, I think part of the appeal is that it is so unique and if more books were written from death's point of view it might loose this. That being said, Death was one of my favorite characters, he interrupts the flow of the story, he ruins endings, and most of the time is just annoying but I think you are supposed to hate him. After all, how many people do like death?
