Lost Scrolls of the Holy Beclay: an Adventure by J.K. Haugen by J. K. Haugen
Did not finish book. Stopped at 15%.
The premise of the book is intriguing; however, the issues I have with the book are just too severe for me to finish it.
The first concern is fixable - really bad editing. Incorrect punctuation, proper names without capitalization, homonyms used accidentally (think there, their, and they're but more complex), and running entire conversations as one paragraph instead of breaking as the speaker changes. Nothing truly criminal, I suppose, but it makes for awkward and confusing reading.
The second "issue" is purely subjective - way too much love story. Love story to such a degree that the book description should include the word romance. Had it included that word, it wouldn't have ended up in my hands getting a 1 star review. Is it a good romance? Not a clue. I think it's loathsome, but I pretty much always feel that way about romance.
In summary, my advice to the author is get a decent editor and label your book as a romance (or a romantic thriller or whatever) so that people who are never going to like it won't pick it up.
