I feel like a lot of things fell into place in this volume. It had a nice balance between action, plot and character building.
The relationship between Takisawa, Akira and Amon is one of my favorites in the series and I really liked the scenes we got from them. Takizawa still admires Amon so much, and though he thinks it’s too late to save himself, he still sees Amon in the light. The reunion between Amon and Akira was so bittersweet! First she lost her father, and then she believe for years she lost her superior and the man that had been close to her father. ”I will be by your side.” I really hope that Amon didn’t fumble the opportunity to kiss Akira this time haha.

The interacrion between Touka and Akira felt like such a huge moment. When you think about it they are very similar. They have carried their grief for so long that it has morphed into anger, and the harsh circumstances they are in has caused them to make other people suffer as they have suffered. I think they see each other as more than ghoul and investigator, and like Akira said, she doesn’t know who to hate because all of them are victims of the way the world works.
Lastly i need to ramble about the Touka and Kaneki interactions in this volume because they were everything to me. I totally cracked up when Touka caused Kaneki to spill his coffee, and then he just kept sipping from an EMPTY CUP because he was so flustered. Hilarious! When Touka told him about how Haise used to come to the cafe and pretend to read in order to steal glances of her I actually melted! ”That made me happy. Am i a bigger idiot feeling that way?” I need them to smooch in the next volume.
