Book: The Collapsing Empire by John Scalzi
Format Read: Audiobook (~9 hours, 30 minutes long)
My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ (3.5/5 stars)
Quick Take Review (TL;DR)
The Collapsing Empire delivers a fascinating premise and intricate political intrigue, though the characters often lacked distinct voices. While not without its flaws, the gripping plot and multi-perspective storytelling make me eager to continue the series.

While the plot and political intrigue of The Collapsing Empire were compelling, I often struggled with the characters, as many lacked a distinctive voice. That said, the premise was gripping right from the start, and the multiple perspectives added depth to the world-building. Despite my reservations, I'll be continuing the series—not only because John Scalzi is a favorite author of mine, but also because the overarching narrative and intricate political dynamics kept me engaged. With stronger character development, this could have been an exceptional read.
