I really liked Vo's writing, and I recognize this is a novella, but I think for my personal tastes the book was just too short for me to really get attached to any of the characters or absorbed into the world, so I was mostly just a bit lost and bored. I might read the sequel for the hell of it because it'll be quick, and I want to read Vo's full-length novel because I think she has a lot of potential, but unfortunately this one isn't going to be staying with me.
