I can’t believe I took so long to write my review of this that I have been made illiterate and have no idea what to say. I guess I’ll do my best.

I absolutely adored this novel. It was AMAZING. I don’t think I can truly put to words the way I was in awe of the writing.

One of the things this book delivered so well on was the characters. We follow (primarily) three different points of view in this book, and they’re all so very distinct from one another. Sure, the audiobook helped because each character has their own narrator, but the characters still held up on their own. They all had their own reasons for doing what they did in the book, and it was great. I loved being able to get to know all of them.

Another thing I think this book did excellently was develop its characters. The characters were far from perfect, but they GREW throughout the novel. The way Jasmine began to work through some of her girl-hate? Ugh. We love to see it. The way Quadir had to face the fact that he wasn’t a good boyfriend? A gift. Truly, it was fantastic.

Another thing I loved was the music and the love for music! You could truly feel it through the writing. This was a book as much about music as it was about grief.

Speaking of grief, the very heavy topics in this book got to my heart. I’m not gonna lie. I felt human emotion while reading this, and I was thankful for it.

All in all, PLEASE read this. It is so worth the read!

First thoughts:

I’m fine. Of course I’m perfectly fine. I’ve never been better.

*sobs uncontrollably*

This was so fucking good!
