This is a decent connected set of short stories. The writing is plain and not very descriptive - I am not sure if this is the original Japanese, or a choice of the translator - probably the original text. I didn't connect well with half the protagonists and characters. My favorite chapter is The Lovers. I may check out the second book in the series.
