Women, Race & Class by Angela Y. Davis

challenging informative inspiring medium-paced

5.0

An essential chronicle of the revolutionary abolitionist, feminist and socialist movements in the American 19th and 20th century which were incredibly influential to social structures in the 80s and today. The writing was dense but only because Davis is such a stellar scholar and historical commentator.

It's despairing to read how even the most forward thinking minds at the time could and would repeatedly fall into the trap of disconnecting social movements to empower themselves at the expense of others. But its an important lesson to be reminded of: No one is free until everybody's free.
