Okorafor creates a fascinating, new world that I was happy to jump into, which is good because she really puts us into the middle of the action. And I think that's why it's not four stars for me.

I know it's a novella (and I've finished the second book and just started the third), but I wanted more: more backstory, a bit more time on the ship, more time spent on the tension between the Meduse when they get to Oomza Uni.

But that said, Okorafor has a great story started. I just wish it was meatier.
