HATE the miscommunication trope seriously don’t piss me off. I was so excited for this book but I couldn’t stand the way their relationship progressed, especially because I loved their characters individually.
All of this unnecessary conflict could’ve been solved with a minimum of like 6 words, and I just wasn’t super invested in their relationship. It felt like we were being told they loved each other yet they barely interacted outside of caring for Jordy’s child or having sex. ALSO back to the miscommunication, there were ways to cause drama while still having them talk like real adults instead of stumbling through vague sentences and running off.
Also didn’t really like the fact that Rowan just miraculously comes to the realisation that he does not actually care for his dream job or a stable place to live when that was quite literally his whole problem with being in a relationship to begin with. Like wow you’ve only just figured out you dgaf about anything you’ve been working towards for 90% of the book and will in fact be a stay at home parent? Just like that? I wouldn’t even be mad if it happened naturally but he had one 5 sentence conversation and he’s now quit his job, broken his lease, and is moving across the country… okay.
Anyway, I wanted to love this because I did really enjoy the rest of the serious but I was disappointed. I loved these characters separately and I just wish their story was more enjoyable and believable to me.
