A Trail Through Time by Jodi Taylor
4.0
More twisty-turny time stuff from Jodi. After the revelations of the previous novel (PLOT SPOILER: Max dies at Agincourt but then is brought back to life in an alternate world) there are more here. Max's return is not entirely welcome, and then there's the intervention of The Time Police...
Jodi continues to develop characters we care for and puts them through the mill in a variety of different time periods - this time Pompeii and The Black Death in London, for example. The ending is a frenzied battle in St. Mary's itself, which is both thrilling and saddening at the time.
The romance between (new)Max and Leon continues, which for the most part keeps things fizzing. Their eventual romantic- erm- coupling was a little too much information for me, although many fans will appreciate it, if not expect it.
All in all though, a great page turner that grabs the attention and holds it until the very end. It is a positive sign that I read these books very quickly - this time in two lengthy sessions. This series is my guilty secret - I devour them once I start, and find them difficult to put down when reading.
Well done, Jodi.
