Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo
5.0
Going into this book I was pretty blind about what it was actually about, aside from it being Bardugo's first adult fantasy and there was quiet a bit of chat about it. Talking about fantasy, whilst it defs is a fantasy it is a lot less dragons and a lot more ghosts. We swap between two timelines, modern day Alex and flashbacks of her previous life. We are also invited to snippets of journals from other people, giving us some background and history of magical Yale. There is A LOOOOT going on in this world, which is why I found the first 50 pages quite hard to get into, but once it clicked it really clicked and I got super carried away with the story.
This book also gave me major The Night Circus (Erin Morgenstern) in how places are layered with intricacy, such mood setting. Also, towards the end, you expect a plot twist and there is one, but then there was another one which I totally didn't see coming!! Was such a good at suspenseful read :)
