This is the first book that I've read that has me wanting to research the footnotes. Want an incredible story that was put together here. We follow a young man on his journey to attend the prestigious academy, Babel, and how the events that happen at the school shapes his life. There are fantasy elements present, which is key to the story, but so much of this book is a character study focused on Robin, our MC. The events that shape his life are profound, and it is was a great to see how his psyche was shaped. As a reader you feel for Robin and what he has gone through. When he and his friends are wronged or are faced with ignorance, you feel anger for Robin.
