I just really couldn’t enjoy this book. The writing style and/or translation didn’t speak to me. I didn’t think the main character was well developed, and I’m annoyed about the set up for him “getting the girl”.  But what really bothered me was the message, it came across to me as quite self congratulatory and snobby. We get it, you read Proust.
