This book gave me WHIPLASH. The embodiment of 'HA SIKE!' Talk about a plot twist?!
Alex Aster, kudos to you, my friend. I fell so deeply into the characters, especially Isla as the narrator that I was bamboozled right alongside her! I believed what she believed, I trusted who she trusted, and I distrusted those she didn't trust. I didn't get the majority of the twists until a page or even a paragraph before it was revealed, but I'm interested to reread this and see if there were more hints that I didn't pick up on.
