I feel like if I try to write any kind of review about this book, I'm just going to bungle it all up but I'm going to do it anyway. My goodness, this book was fabulous. I have a lot of Deep Feelings about it. So totally different than any other WWII fiction I've read (and I've read a lot). It grips you right from the beginning, sweeps you along, gets you totally lost in the story, you find yourself cheering and crying and laughing for the characters and it shocks you and well now I'm just rambling but hot damn this book is just GOOD.
I've heard complaints that it was confusing because there is espionage (and yes, I was confused sometimes) and that the tone was sometimes off (and yes, it confused you a little in that way too, but ultimately that left me unable to predict anything and caused me to be further immersed in the story) but I still love it.
Best book I've read so far in 2013.
Are you tired of me gushing yet?
Seriously. Go read this book.
