The Maze Runner by James Dashner
5.0
I'm going to keep my review short and sweet for this one, because I'm hoping to let my son write a review of his own later this this year (this is his summer reading for school).
There's a lot of action and conspiracy at work in this novel. There aren't enough good books for boys in the YA market, but James Dashner has delivered a great one that sets the bar high for the rest of us. Many of the best YA books find something in high school and turn it into something cool. Whether it was his intent, I felt this novel spoke to the former cross country and track runner in me. My son ran in track for the first time this past school year, so I'm curious to see his reaction to the book.
If there's any gripe to make about The Maze Runner, it's that it's only the first in a series, and you know at the end there will need to be a second book.
