The Path to Loving Him by Meghan Quinn
4.0
Even though this book was over 500 pages, it didn’t feel nearly as long. The story kept me invested and the way that Meghan Quinn weaves together the funny moments with the serious ones in this one was really well done! This is the third book in a series however I haven’t read the two that come before it and didn’t feel lost at any moment. There’s characters seen whose stories were assumingly told in the first two books but enough background is given to know who is who.
The book starts out with quite literally a bang with the characters having a one night stand. Sometimes in books with that the spicy scene gets skipped over at the beginning but that’s not the case here. All the detail is there and there’s plenty of other spicy moments throughout the book. The relationship starts out a bit rocky given there was no expectation to see each other again after the one night stand. There’s plenty of banter and them telling themselves that they won’t give in to the obvious attraction… except they do. Multiple times haha. Eventually they resist each other only to realize their feelings run deeper than the physical attraction. The close proximity with the fmc living in the apartment above the garage of the mmc and them both being baseball coaches at the high school help move the romance along.
The mmc is a single guardian to his late sister’s daughter and the relationship between him and his niece was so sweet. You could tell he just wanted to be the best person he could for her. I liked how the relationship with his niece and the fmc was developed along with the conversations had to ensure the niece would be comfortable with their relationship.
My only gripe with this book was the ending. It felt too quick and I was hoping for something different in the epilogue. I mean the book was already over 500 pages, what’s a few more to build out the ending?
