The Conspiracy Against the Human Race by Thomas Ligotti
Did not finish book.
2.0
I never finished this one. I only read the parts that I did because it was required for my philosophy class I took my first semester of uni. I don't remember what it was exactly that I read. It blew my mind, every now and then. When I actually deemed to take in what I was reading and...do something with it. You know, instead of reading until your eyes glaze over because you're sick of reading books for school and just want to read your fantasy stuff that's for fun.
I don't think I'll ever give this one a shot again. But I do recall it generating interesting discussion in that class, so maybe try it out? I don't know. It was weird. It boggled my mind. And then I just sort of...forgot about it.
Believe me, when my professor said we were done with the book and we didn't have to read anymore of it, I'm pretty sure most of us sighed in collective relief. This was one of those philosophy classes that counted as an English credit too (I'm not really sure how this fit with that criteria, but it did). It wasn't full of philosophy nerds. It was (mostly) full of first semester uni students with varying different majors, many of them undecided. So I guess none of us cared for this one, and I don't know if that says something about us or the book, so take what you will from that.
