Christopher's Diary: Secrets of Foxworth by V.C. Andrews
1.0
I forced myself to read this because I wanted to see Christopher's side of the story. This is terrible. I know that cathy is an unreliable narrator, but at least in the books written as her version both Cathy and Chris have achievements and are equal. In this, all of the things cathy does are attributed to chris. Corrine is supposed to favour chris, while Christopher sr. is supposed to favour cathy. In this book, chris claims that both parents love him more and that his father respects him more than cathy. Cathy is reduced to a whiny brat who doesn't even have two thoughts to rub together and needs chris to explain everything to her. Andrew Neiderman writes chris as a very sexist character, and while he does make some sexist jokes in the original series, it's clear that in this one he is not joking. This is made worse by the fact that kristin has similar thoughts and agrees with everything chris says or thinks. Every person in this series has been rewritten to be an awful caricature, except for perfect chris.
