This book is a masterpiece!
The writing is absolutely magical, the characters are flawed and real, and the story had me breathless more than once. Chokshi does an amazing job of weaving a tale that will completely capture you, and that you will keep thinking about long after you put the book down.
The character development is spectacular in this book! I love the way Gauri and Vikram grow throughout the story, not just with each other, but also on their own. It's not about changing for someone else, but about changing to better yourself.
I'd also like to throw out into the world that my future husband better charm me with a garden of gulab jaman! That is officially the ONLY way to my heart.
This book is a companion novel to The Star-Touched Queen, and while technically you could read this as a standalone, I highly recommend reading TSTQ first as it helps to build a bit of history.
