HOLY CRAP THE LAST PAGE ALMOST HAD ME IN TEARS. I was not expecting that. Oh god...OH GOD. *will not cry*
Okay okay.
So Mikayla Jones, popular boyfriend and best friend and a loving family. All gone in 1 night.
Jacob Andrews just happened to be there.
When life tears everything that she had away from Mikayla's life, Jake becomes that everything she didn't have.
She's broken with grief and pain and suddenly she finds herself done pretty quickly. But Jake seems to be her home, her need, the person who knows her and has seen her at her worst.
Jake is a rising baseball star ready to put everything he's worked for on hold to take care of the beautiful, broken girl now living with his family. Being there for Mikayla that fateful night turned his world upside down as he falls in love with her over the passing months.
“God Jake, I so much more than a lot like you."
"Mikayla, I passed that stage a long, long time ago.”
But months later, in love with Jake Andrews, Mikayla still can't give herself to him, still grief stricken over the loss in her life. She's come a long way with him by her side every step of the way and now she feels the need to learn to stand on her own so she can give all of herself to him.
For Jake, there's not much more he can handle. Sharing a house with her, innocent touching and yet she won't be with him. But he's her Jake. Her forever. Yeah he figures it out.
“It's just you. It's only ever been just you. It will always only ever be just you.”
I enjoyed this book! I had thought the whole death thing mentioned in the synopsis would have been more badass with them involved in some crazy s**t but still, the element had a significant effect on the characters and story.
I really liked the characters. They were normal.
She was just a normal girl, and he was just a normal guy. And s**t happened and they became each other's half.
IGNORE THIS. JUST. JUST. Lemme cry. I'M SORRY GAH
