2024 update:  I needed a comfort read, and this is always a favorite (especially when I am in the "depths of despair"). I've lost count of how many times I've read this, and it is always a joy. It provided me with much needed laughter, imagination, and a reminder to take joy in the little, ordinary things in life like Octobers, kindred spirits, laughter, a new day with no mistakes in it yet, and good books that make you cry. Oh, and carrots. 

Previous review: This is one of my all time favorite books, and every time I read it, it feels like coming home.
