this was interesting!
i don't know my rating yet so we're giving it a three! this was nothing like what i expected and at no point did i see where the story was going. from the cover, i thought this was going to be a literary fiction novel in the vein of the death of vivek oji and freshwater (which i still need to finish), but yeah no this is a thriller. it does have similarities to other of emezi's work but it's very much a dark, fast-paced thriller, unlike anything they have written before.
i was hooked the entire time (so much so that i finished it in two days), and it was very well written. that being said, i don't know if liked it?
it is very very dark though so pay attention to the trigger warnings.
