Lure of the Fox by Anna Lowe

Love, mystery and danger
I loved Ella and Jake’s destined mates, human-shifter, fake marriage, romance with a side of past trauma. The story is filled with all the emotions, the connections and the love. Jake is a human who recently was discharged from the military and is feeling a bit unmoored and having difficulty settling into civilian life. Ella is a fox shifter who also recently retired from the military. While they were still active duty and on a joint exercise, they shared one steamy night together. Jake knows nothing about shifters although he’s heard a few fantastical made up stories. Ella recognized Jake as her fated mate but her past trauma meant she decided to fight fate and walked away. When Jake and Ella are both hired by friends to help with security for Koa Point, a Hawaiian estate where five former military men and their mates live, it gets harder to fight fate and ignore the call of the mate bond and that is before they need to go undercover as newlyweds on their honeymoon. To get to their HEA, they will have to some baggage unpacking and truth telling in order to deal with their painful pasts while dogging bad guys with evil plots, of course. The story was well written and included witty dialogue, three dimensional characters, good world building, and an engaging storyline as shown through sweet moments, steamy scenes, fighting, dangerous situations, shifter physiology and cultures, evil actors, henchmen, loyal friends and family, painful pasts, mystery, revelations, plot twists, big feels, and laughs.
