Hamnet by Maggie O'Farrell
4.0
I put off reading this for so long. And whilst I do feel like I didn't quite have the visceral, emotional reaction that some readers had, there is so much I got from this, so much gorgeous writing I could just sit and absorb and love. It will take some time for my feelings to coalesce about this book - I loved that it became Agnes' story - but the one thing I am 1000% certain of now is that Chloe Zhao will turn this into the most glorious film imaginable. To put Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal, two of the best actors currently working, and give them so much to FEAST on as performers as this book does will be an absolute delight to see on-screen. And O'Farrell's writing has such a cinematic quality to it at times.
I'm really glad I finally read it, lads.
