Hiding in the Dark by Brooklyn Cross, Brooklyn Cross
5.0
“She was his. She’d always been his, as he’d always been hers.”
Kestrel understood the true meaning of hate at a young age. When Kes joined The Righteous, he found a brotherhood that sought to protect innocent people. However, nothing could pull him out of the darkness until he was saved by a little girl that knew far too much for her young age and his high school love, Ashley. Ashley has never known safety. Her life has been full of torment and just when she thought everything was falling into place, sickness strikes. Can Kes and Ashley put the past behind them, or will it always tear them apart?
“He was hers, and she would die before she turned her back on him.”
This whole series is so amazing! Every time I think it can’t possibly get better; I’m proven wrong. Kes & Ashley deserved their happy ending after going through so much & so did Zumi. Andddd my favorite twins making an appearance! One of my favorite things to read about is found family, so the fact that Kes, Ashley and Zumi were accepted so quickly into Trev and Arek’s little group made me so happy! I can't wait to read the next book!
Note: check TW/CW! This is Book 4 of an ongoing series. This book contains depictions of ptsd, violence & themes that are not suitable for everyone.
Thank you to Brooklyn Cross and The SmutHood for this backlist copy. This review was written honestly & voluntarily based on my own enjoyment of the book.
