The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson

5.0

What an amazing book! All of the layers constantly kept me wondering what would happen next! I can not believe that this was Andrew Davidson's first book! That being said, this book is not for those with a weak stomach. The author does a great job at not only explaining pretty graphically the injuries the main character sustains from his car accident, but continues to graphically describe what goes on within a burn ward for the healing process of burn victims.

I grew to care about the main character, even if he started out a little rough. Davidson did a great job at letting his readers in on the characters feelings. You get that the main character loathed his life both before and after the accident, but you also see that he's capable of loving when he meets Marianne. It's just an indescribable journey from accident, to complete recover filled with pain, love, self loathe, and curiosity. Absolutely a great read.
