The Exvangelicals: Loving, Living, and Leaving the White Evangelical Church by Sarah McCammon

3.75

Everybody that grew up in southern church culture should read/listen to this. I’m genuinely grateful for the way I was raised and have primarily positive memories of church/religion as a child but there’s so much about the 90s and 2000s evangelical movement that is an immediate no to me as an adult. This put words to a lot of my deconstructing and made me feel seen and known. It’s full of a lot of people with a lot of perspectives and wherever you stand now, I think it’s an important read.
